PROJECT STATUS
Following is a list of archive assets and interviews secured for
acquisition:
1. Access to the Austin Organs, Inc. factory in Hartford, CT to
video tape organ building process. Access to company archives
of letters, photographs, and blueprints. On-camera interview with
Kimberlee Austin, Donald Austin and Victor Hoyt [completed 10/13/99].
2. Interviews with Lawrence Schoenstein and Betty Lemare Biza
[completed 8/16/99].
3. Access to the Spreckles organ archives of photographs, blueprints,
drawings, letters and other documents pertaining to that installation.
Video camera tour of the Spreckles organ chambers. On camera interview
with Bob Plimpton and Lyle Blackinton [completed 8/17/99].
4. Access to rare 16mm film of people being rescued during the
1906 earthquake and fire, extensive rare footage of Market Street
from a cable car cir. 1905. [Digi-Beta transfer 6/6/99].
5. Access to Exposition Organ in Brooks Hall, San Francisco. Extensive
footage of Exposition Organ in its current state and consultants
inspecting the instrument [completed 2/23/00].
6. Access to models, drawings and blueprints of downtown San Francisco
and the proposed Music Concourse and Organ Pavilion. On-Camera
interview with Boris Drumoff.
7. Access to Schoenstein firm archives containing letters, documents
photographs, blueprints and drawings dating back to the early
1900s. On-camera interview with Jack Bethards.
8. Access to the Organ Historical Society archives of photographs,
documents and recordings.
9. San Francisco Public Library History Center, Photograph Collection
of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, Civic Auditorium
photos, 1906 Earthquake photos, P.P.I.E. photos.
10. Access to the private collection of rare photos of the Panama
Pacific International Exposition, Exposition Organ cir. 1915,
Edwin H. Lemare, Exposition Organ cir. 1960's, Loma Prieta earthquake
damage, DAT recordings and video footage of the Exposition Organ
at the Civic Auditorium and other extensive documents. On camera
interview with Charles Swisher.
11. Access to the Moulin Archives of historic photographs and
negatives of P.P.I.E. and the Exposition Organ.
12. Access to the private collection of photographs, books and
ephemera belonging to organ historian Paul Motter.
